Our Story

The numbers 359 holds a lot of meaning to my family and I.

Growing up, my grandmother, Nana, hosted Monday night suppers at her home in Arlington. 359 Summer Street had been where she and Pops raised their six children and now were including their grandchildren in these weekly dinners. A spaghetti and meatball meal with some of the best company you could ask for made Monday nights a joy to be a part of.

Nana was one of the most selfless and compassionate people I have got to know. These Mondays eventually were open to any combination of friends, family, neighbors, classmates… you name it. Anyone who would enjoy a warm meal and some “overrated” company was welcomed.

As a kid I was happy to meet these additional people as it usually meant a few more potential players to entice out to the basketball blacktop. But as I’ve aged and reflected, I have come to greatly admire what Nana had curated by opening up her home in this way; a warm, welcoming and enjoyable space. For a couple hours a week you could share a meal and some stories and just like that, you had stepped into a small version of home.

With this tradition and initiative in mind, it is important to me that Farm 359 strives to contribute to people’s sense of home as often as possible. Be it swinging by on Mondays to visit the food truck, joining the CSA for weekly on-site pick ups, signing up for native foraging classes or bringing your coworkers out for a day of team appreciation, we aim to create multiple opportunities of welcoming and meaningful connection here at the farm.

We are committed to partnering with local organizations centered around providing a sense of home to their constituents. Home can encompass many different meanings - a physical structure providing safety or warmth, a supportive family, chosen family or support system, a space to create or express yourself, a space to explore and work on oneself independently, or a space to contribute to your surroundings and social network. All of these lend to a greater sense of feeling secure and rooted.

Born and raised down the road in Boxborough, Farm 359 founder Katie Awiszus has an affinity for working in tandem with the land and its neighbors. Her experience in gardening, farm management and outdoor education serves as her motivation to bring Farm 359 to life as a vibrant, integral part of Littleton and the broader community. We are looking forward to welcoming folks to our farm, a place where we can provide and grow for one another. Plan your visit or drop us a note at info@farm-359.com.
